I’m Going to be a Beekeeper

If you know me at all you know that I am excited to raise bees this summer. Last night I went to the Superior Beekeeping Club’s 101 class for beginners. If you don’t know me, I haven’t raised bees yet. Next summer will be my first season. What does beekeeping have to do with this fitness blog? As I have become more interested in my health I have also begun to care more about how I eat. Last year I went to the same class and I learned that honey bees are disappearing. They are calling this phenomenon “colony collapse disorder.” This concerned me because honey bees are responsible for pollinating 1/3 of our food supply. This 1/3 is all the healthy stuff

like vegetables and fruit. Without bees these plants could not be pollinated. Researchers believe that the massive amounts of pesticides conventional farms put on our food might be killing the bees. The pesticides and the disappearing bees are not the only reason I am going t o become a beekeeper. I think that bees are very interesting and would be a cool pet. Over the summer I have been to bee club events and helped handle bees. The more I was around the bee hives the more I wanted one for myself. Its time to start building my hives, the bees will arrive in the mail in April.

Week 2 P90X

It feels really good to be back in the groove. The first week always inspires me to keep pushing myself to the limits. I also started drinking Shakology this week. It’s a meal/protein shake from Beachbody. It seams to be working, I don’t feel as hungry or crave the crap food. I love that when I’m working out I don’t feel as tired throughout the day. Its nice not feeling like I have to take a nap when I get home from work. Maybe this is why a year later I am still doing P90X. It’s the best workout I have ever done. It’s great because it’s so scheduled, they tell you what to do and you just have to do it. Like Tony says when your working out “do your best and forget the rest.” If I keep doing just that, when it comes to eating and committing to my workout, I should get great results.

Here We Go Again

2013 has been here for awhile and it's time to get back on the fitness bandwagon. I was walking next to the wagon during the holidays. You know, thinking I should try and watch what I eat and do a few workouts. Well. it was a good thought. What really happened was too much eating and not enough moving. The holidays are over and I am committing to another round of P90X. I'm really not going to get all jacked up on the numbers this time. I will not be focusing on the scale, because unless I bring the scale everywhere I go, who cares about what it says? I'm working out to feel more energetic and to avoid buying a bigger pant size again. The biggest surprise I had with working out was how much better I felt overall. I want to help and inspire others to live healthier lifestyles. That is why this time around I became a Team Beachbody coach. As a coach I will update this blog with motivation and advice and share my experiences that help me stay dedicated to being fit. As a coach, I am also your source for all Beachbody products.

A reminder of my before and after from my last round of P90X.:

P90X

I did it! As you all read I finished 90 days with P90X. P90X is a Extreme 90day workout routine created by Tony Horton that focuses on muscle confusion . This was not my first time doing P90X; last year I fell off the wagon after completing 2 months. I lost 15 lbs and gained it all back a few months later, but this was a wake up call, the way I was treating my body was not healthy. I remember saying that the reason I wanted to do P90X was so that I could eat whatever I wanted. This mindset was not good. I got cocky with the 15lbs that I lost and I went back to the sweets, pop and running into fast food. Thanksgiving was when I decided that it was time to get truly healthy, I gave up chew tobacco and once I had the funds I ordered P90X (the one I was using before was my sister's). I started working out on Jan 16th with ups and downs and a couple days missed here and there. I was able to finish it and I got some really good results.

                                                                      Day 1
                                                         Weight:           211 lbs
                                                            Waist:           41 in

                                                                     Day 90
                                                         Weight:             180 lbs
                                                           Waist:              34 1/2 in

Yeah, I lost 31 lbs and 6 1/2 in on my waist.

The reason for this blog was and still is to keep me accountable and maybe to motivate someone else to regain their health.

Day 1                                Day 90

Day 1                                              Day 90

Monday May 21st is the day I truly started another round of P90X. If you have questions about what else I did during this fitness journey please ask.

The Old Jeff (that is Adrian)
Yes I did it I finished 90day's of P90X. I don't have my results pictures yet or my final measurements but they are coming soon. Stopping is not an option I'm still going and I will start over with another round of P90X soon. I will be doing a running hybrid with my P90X workouts because this year I'm going to run in a half marathon.

Fresh eggs

When you're trying to lose weight you need a high protein diet. One of the best ways I do this is to start the morning off right with some farm fresh, free range eggs. If you like eggs I highly recommend free range or farm fresh if you can find them near your home. These egg's are so much more wholesome and have a much richer taste. Since they free range they eat bugs and grass which adds a lot of beneficial nutrients in every egg.The farm that I get these eggs from have a lot different chickens that lay different color eggs (note: some store bought eggs could be up to a year old before they get to the store. pay the extra money for quality and support your neighbor.)
